Travelling to London - Congestion Charge

London Congestion Charge Zone

London Congestion Charge

You’ll need to pay the London Congestion Charge each day you drive in the Congestion Charge area from 7am until 6pm Monday – Friday (not public holidays). You can pay the London Congestion Charge either online or by phone. Simply visit cclondon.com or phone 0343 222 2222 to pay the Congestion Charge.

Hire cars are not exempt from the Congestion Charge and it is your responsibility to pay it whether you are from the UK or abroad. It’s the renter’s responsibility, not Hertz, to register the vehicle they are driving by paying the Congestion Charge each day they are driving in the zone.

You can pay for the Congestion Charge in advance, on the day of travel or up until the midnight on the day after travel. The Congestion Charge costs less if you buy in advance or up until midnight on the day of travel rather than the day after.  Cameras will record what time you have entered the congestion charge zone, and if payment is not made by the following day a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued.

The Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will increase in cost depending on whether you pay with 14 days, 15 to 28 days and over 28 days. We will charge you an extra £42 administration fee, as well as the original penalty charge if we receive a late payment demand or have to pay on your behalf.

Good news our branches in the heart of London – Marble Arch and Victoria – do not fall within the Congestion Charge Zone.  This means that customers can now rent from our Marble Arch and Victoria locations without needing to pay the Congestion Charge (unless you are planning to enter the zone).

These two locations are in the centre of London and are perfect for those who want to collect their car from right in the thick of things. With Marble Arch a short walking distance from Oxford Street and the Victoria branch located adjacent to the Coach Station and a 5 minute walk from the train station, they are both great for those people arriving in London.
